Surgery

I really know why I don't blog. All I have to do is try and I remember why I haven't done it for the past year. I've been working on this for the last 45 min. and I am now starting over. Anyway this one is just for the record books, not sure who's. I, Ilene had bunion surgery on March 1st. They said they were going to break the bone in my big toe to straighten it and put 2 screws in it. After that they would take a piece of bone off my heel to graft over this. They would also make an incision on the side of the big toe to cut the bunion off. They didn't tell me this but I asked questions 2 weeks later when they took the bandages off and there was a large incision between my big toe and the next one. They cut a muscle or something to help relax the muscle so it wouldn't pull the toe inward again. The above picture is taken on Wed. the 16th so 15 days after the surgery. It is still quite swollen but they said that was normal with as much as they did.

The next two pictures are just showing the bruising on the inside of the foot.

I don't know how this got upside down and I'm not going to try and figure it out so you can. It shows the incision on the heel for the graft.

This is a pretty good view of both feet. The doctor said that the right foot is actually worse than the left. We'll see how this one works out before deciding to do the other one.

Heidi came down on Sunday so she would be here to take me to the hospital on Monday. I was so glad she was here. I really thought it was going to be a piece of cake but it has been harder than I thought. We got home and I took the pain pills, they made me so sick. It was not fun. Heidi called and got a new pain prescription and some anti nausa medicine. She was so sweet. She set her alarm and got up every 3 0r 4 hours to make sure I was okay. She stayed until Wednesday afternoon. She brought down Thomas and it was so fun to interact with him. What a sweet boy.
Mardy came down Wednesday afternoon and stayed until Sat. Morning. I was always in such good hands. Clarie was a doll. I'll tell you she is one cute chick! Camille and Mike came late Friday night and were here until Sunday afternoon. I am soooo thankful for good kids. They all called and checked in on me and I felt their prayers. The mission friends have been taking great care of us as well. Bringing in food, one Elder took Robert to have his wisdom tooth pulled the Wednesday after my surgery. Heidi was going to but it was such a blessing to have him do it. Robert did great with it and was so bored that he wanted to go back to work the next day or was it that afternoon???? Nancy, Robert's sister brought in dinner and came over to clean house or whatever (I was so glad to have her vacume.) I appeciated all the calls and care. Thanks!!!!
I went back to work on rhw 8th. Maybe a day or two to soon but I was glad to be back. I've been using Robert's power chair. All it took was one day on crutches and I wa soooo glad for that chair. I couldn't let Robert have all the fun. Besides I need to get my moneys worth. He had been totally out of it for several months. Miracles!!!!!!!! He has been so sweet to me and has been doing a great job taking care of me. I just have to make sure he gets to exercise every day.
Sorry this was so long. I guess once I got going I just kept going.
Thanks again for all your love!

I'm not sure if I can make this post buy I'll give it a try. I, Ilene had bunion surgery on Monday, March 1st. In the surgery they broke the bone in my big toe and put 2 screws in it. Then they cut a piece of bone off my heel to graft over the screws. The next incision was on the side of the big to cut the extra bone off. I didn't know they were ding this but they made another incision between the big toe and the next one and cut some muscle or something to relax the big toe so it wouldn't be pulled in but go straight. It was an out patient surgery and I don't think I was in surgery for more than an hour. We had to wait for ever it seems before they took me into the operating room.
